For 2020-21, the migration planning level for visas will remain at 160,000. The visa spaces allocation for Global Talent Independent [GTI] Program has been tripled, from 5,000 in 2019-20 to 15,000 in 2020-21. Similarly, allocations for Business Innovation and Investment Program [BIIP] have been doubled.
Set annually, Australia’s migration program has a ceiling of 160,000 for 2020-21. The program can be broken down into 4 sections – skill, family, special ability, and child spaces.
Under the 2020-21 Migration Program settings, nomination allocations are made available to States and Territories in the following visa categories:
Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190)
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491)
Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)

States and Territories each assess eligible applicants against criteria unique to their jurisdiction.
