NSW does not provide advice on these requirements and cannot answer questions in this regard. If you need specific advice on your case, you should consider engaging a Migration Agent. If you engage a Migration Agent, you should ensure that they are registered with the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) (www.mara.gov.au).
One of the basic requirements for this visa is that the applicant must score at least 60 points on the points test. You will receive five points if NSW agrees to nominate you. You will meet the points requirement if the total of your points score (points for your personal attributes plus the 5 points for State nomination) totals 60 points.
NSW state nomination requires a minimum level of 6 in each band of the IELTS test score. Your skills assessing authority may have their own requirements with regard to your English language score and you should check this with them.
In order to apply for NSW nomination for the 190 visa you must first create an Expression of Interest Number (EOI) in SkillSelec, DIAC’s online system (http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ ). You must include this EOI number on your NSW 190 nomination application along with the necessary documents needed to support your application. NSW processes nomination applications in the order in which they are received. There is no preferential treatment for skill points, ANZSCO codes, visa expiry or any other qualifier. Once your application is allocated to an assessing case officer they will attempt to conduct their assessment in the following working week. If a decision cannot be made quickly they will write to you and provide their contact details. Please refrain from making general “status” enquiries, especially where your application is within service standards (see below). If your application is approved, we will nominate your application electronically in SkillSelect using the EOI number supplied and, within 2-3 days of nomination. This will prompt an invitation by email from SkillSelect (DIAC) inviting you to apply for the 190 visa.
Our estimated processing time is within 12 weeks from date of receipt although this will fluctuate depending on the volume of applications received. Please note that we do not issue individual updates on applications during the processing period. However, we will be posting updates on our website which will advise of the date that we are up to in our processing.
We aim to email acknowledgement of receipt of application within 5 working days. Please refrain from contacting us to check receipt of your application within this period. We encourage you to post your application to us by registered post that can be tracked.
No - we cannot process credit card payments. Currently we only accept bank cheques and money orders addressed to: NSW Trade & Investment.
Employment references may be needed if you are claiming points for work experience. If you are not claiming these points, you do not need employment references. There are various types of evidence that you can provide to substantiate claims about work experience. You should refer to the DIAC Booklet 6 for comprehensive explanation of this requirement and examples of the types of evidence you can provide
Please refer to the Document Checklist within the NSW nomination application form and note that you only need to supply documents to demonstrate that you meet the basic requirements for the 190 visa and for the points that you are claiming. Please do not send original documents as they will not be returned. Please do not use folders, plastic sleeves, or other filing devices when submitting your application. Bulldog clips, paperclips, and rubber bands can be used.
In order to keep the processing times as efficient as possible, we ask that only complete applications are submitted. If your application is incomplete, it will be delayed and not processed until you have submitted all required documentation.
We only nominate certain occupations. These occupations are marked with an ‘x’ on the NSW State Migration Plan (http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/live-and-work-in-nsw/visa-andmigration/state-migration-plan ). If your occupation (identified by name and ANZSCO code) is not on the NSW plan, we will not be able to nominate you for a 190 visa. You may wish to explore other visa options. No - the EOI number that is provided on the application form is the only number that will be used for nomination. Please make sure you have entered correct and accurate information into your EOI as you will not be able to change this information after nomination
