The APC is extremely mindful of the guiding principles for the National Law and has considered all options in regards to the design of the assessment for the ECU 2011/2012 cohort 53[c] Assessment. The APC is required to provide a schedule for assessment that enables the individual to undertake assessments as soon as they have completed their preparations for the assessment. This requirement means the APC will need to schedule assessments on a regular basis until all individuals complete the assessment process. The ability to secure venues with sufficient consistent caseload, and to appoint staff who are available on a regular basis for the assessment has resulted in the choice of Melbourne and Brisbane as the location for the Clinical Assessment component of the ECU 2011/2012 cohort 53[c] Assessment. This decision will minimise the costs and ensure each individual is provided a fair and reasonable assessment. The APC is aware of the impact that travel and accommodation in an unfamiliar environment has on the individual however the APC has strategies to overcome these issues. The APC is also aware that the ECU graduates have undertaken placements in many different venues including rural areas during the course of their studies. They are therefore able to operate in a variety of locations. It is also understood by the APC, that this cohort are Masters level graduates and can therefore be expected to operate with maturity and a level of autonomy. Individual candidates will be provided with detailed information via the APC Website and a face to face meeting, so that they are fully informed of the proposed APC process.
The APC has scheduled a number of dates for the assessments. It is essential that you make yourself available to undertake the assessments during the period they are scheduled. Extenuating circumstances will be considered on appeal. An appeal application will cost $550.
If you fail the Clinical Assessment, a review will be undertaken to determine your eligibility for a second sitting. A second sitting will only be granted in the instance there is sufficient evidence that the candidate has sufficient capacity for safe and effective physiotherapy practice.
