On 3 December 2024, the Australian Government unveiled the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) — a pivotal step in streamlining Australia’s skilled migration program.

The CSOL is a single, consolidated list of 456 occupations, replacing outdated and complex lists. It’s designed to better reflect the needs of the Australian labor market, informed by detailed analysis from Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA).

This list will apply to: Core Skills stream of the new Skills in Demand visa (launching on 7 December 2024) Direct Entry stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa

Stay tuned for more announcements about upcoming reforms, including the Skills in Demand visa and National Innovation visa—more details coming soon!

This is a big leap forward for Australia’s immigration system, opening up opportunities for skilled professionals across various industries.
