Students Migrating to Regional Areas Remains 15% Higher Than Two Years Ago

According to fresh Commonwealth Bank data, Australia’s urban exodus is continuing, with quarterly mobility away from capital cities 15 percent more than it was two years ago, before the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to figures released on Thursday for the December quarter, net migration to regional areas is more than double what it was two years prior to the epidemic.

It comes after a huge exodus from cities in the first months of 2020, when lockdowns and remote work forced city people to seek greater space outside of major cities.
